What’s the difference between grass-fed and grain-finished beef?

Grass-fed beef comes from cattle that eat grass for most of their lives, producing a leaner flavor that reflects pasture diets. Grain-finished beef is raised on grass but switched to a grain diet (often corn) before harvest, which adds more marbling and a richer, buttery taste. Both are high-quality — the choice comes down to whether you prefer lean, earthy flavor or fuller, tender richness.

What makes Marin Fine Foods different from other grocery delivery services?

Our commitment to the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients selected for you by a knowledgeable shopper that cares about your order and delivers it right to your door.

Are your meats and seafood locally sourced?

We source our premium beef and seafood  from our partner butchers and fisherman located in the Bay Area.  Our partners are selected for their adherence to industry leading standards for sustainability and the human treatment of animals.

What is Prime Grade beef?

USDA Prime is the highest beef grade in the United States, awarded to less than 3% of all cattle. It’s distinguished by abundant marbling creating unmatched tenderness, juiciness, and flavor.  Prime steaks are the standard used by top steakhouses. While they cost more than lower grades like Choice or Select, many customers find the taste well worth the premium.

What is Sashimi-grade seafood?

“Sashimi-grade” seafood is a marketing term used to describe fish that is considered high quality and suitable for raw consumption, though it is not an official or regulated standard. Typically, it refers to seafood that has been handled with exceptional care.

Is your seafood sustainable and wild-caught?

All of our seafood is sustainably harvested and sourced from local fishermen whenever possible.  Whether or not it's wild caught depends on what our suppliers have in inventory day-to-day.
